What is plastic wrap?
Nan Ya plastic wrap is one of the products of Nan Ya Plastics Corp. and Vietnam Formosa Industries Corporation of Formosa Plastics Group, which is a polyvinyl chloride film.
What are the product characteristics of plastic wrap?
Nan Ya plastic wrap is transparent, fresh, good in anti-fog and cold resistance, good in softness and adhesion, and has excellent elongation, so it can be completely attached to the package. Nanya plastic wrap produced in Taiwan plant complies to the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) standard and has obtained Japan Hygienic Association, JHPA) certification from Japan. It also complies with the Sanitation Standard of Food Utensils, Containers and Packages amended by Ministry of Health and Welfare Decree No. 1021350146. The plastic wrap produced by Vietnam plant meets the requirements of the USFDA and has obtained both HALAL and KOSHER certifications, as well as the Vietnamese Food Safety Conditions and Food Hygiene & Safety certification, suitable for all kinds of food packaging.
How long has the plastic wrap been put into production?
The Nan Ya Plastics Corp. Taiwan plant went into the production of plastic wrap in 1980, and the Vietnam plant was established in 2010. The Vietnam plant is a subsidiary of Vietnam Formosa Industries Corporation of Formosa Plastics Group, and its product brand is “FORMOSA WRAP”. Since its establishment, we have been continuing the Group’s corporate belief of “Inquire into the Cause of the Matters” and strictly demanding quality control all the time. Does plastic wrap have any issues with the release of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM)?
In general, the vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) in powder is not released under normal conditions, and the powder production process has been continuously improved. The VCM residual amount of powder is below 1 PPM. In addition, powder will be further processed and then shaped, generally processing temperature is about 180℃~220℃. In this high-temperature processing process, VCM residues will be minimized, which can be proved by the results of food hygiene testing (Not Detected), so there is no VCM release issue in Nan Ya plastic wrap.
Does plastic wrap contain plasticizers that may cause negative impacts on health?
Nan Ya plastic wrap does not use any plasticizers which may cause health concerns listed in the "food utensils container packaging hygienic standard", such as BBP, DBP, DEHP, DEP, DIDP, DINP, DMP, DNOP, DEHA, and the product was regularly sent to SGS (Taiwan plant and Vietnam plant) and QUATEST3 (Vietnam plant) for testing, so it can be safely used in food packaging.
Does plastic wrap contain dioxins?
Some reports indicate that the plastic contains dioxin substances, but according to Dr. Edward Machuga, a consumer protection official of Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, USFDA, "FDA cannot find any evidence that suggests plastic containers or films contain dioxin." In fact, the occurrence of dioxins is mainly caused by incomplete combustion of the material, which is produced under a specific temperature range (250℃~450℃), and not related to products. At present, advanced incinerator technology can reach 800℃ treatment temperature higher than needed, and complete combustion of will not produce dioxin. Taking the advanced countries such as the United States, Canada, Japan, and Germany as examples, it can be concluded that "the chlorine content in garbage has nothing to do with the occurrence of dioxin."

According to the USFDA, there is no evidence indicates that plastic wrap cannot be used for microwave heating if it is used with the correct method. In the United States, plastic wrap is also used for microwave heating, but it needs to be kept from food for at least one inch when coating. In addition, do not touch the food directly and do not entirely cover the seal. tear open a corner to allow the vapor to ventilate.
